The Topponcino, which means "little pillow" in Italian is an essential Montessori infant tool designed by Maria Montessori. Toponcino's help babies to feel safe anytime they are not on their parent's body because it smells like their parent. Using a topponcino actually begins during pregnancy, when the pregnant person sleeps with the the topponcino The topponcino helps people who might like more physical support as they hold a baby to feel secure and confident, like baby's older sibling, the elderly, and some people with physical disabilities.

The Topponcino is a tool that is not recommended for infant sleep.
